Professional Services

Rural Touring Support

Air is committed to helping a range of community venues host  professional touring productions and shows that specialise in performing in village halls and other 'non-theatre' spaces, and are sympathetic to the intimacy and community nature of such venues.

We work in partnership with individuals and groups who operate as local promoters. A number of local promoters have developed successful regular events at their local venues, for example Reeth Memorial Hall have a regular, lively season of folk music, Newton-le-Willows and Dalton and Gayles put on a range of shows and are building audiences for top quality shows.

Air is a member of the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF), which provides a number of benefits that Air can pass on to our local promoters.

If you are interested in becoming a promoter, this is what Air can offer as support:

  • We discuss with you what kind of show might be successful at your venue, and provide advice about event promotion and management e.g. performance licencing regulations, health & safety, putting up performers overnight
  • We can research and recommend well-regarded touring productions. If you select one, we may also try to sign up the same show for a mini-tour of the district
  • We can keep you informed about companies and performers visiting the area - from folk musicians, jazz trios and theatre companies to comedians, dance troupes and classical quartets -that you might be interested in booking too
  • We can advise about and provide a template for artists' contracts
  • We may be able to offer limited financial underwriting, to reduce your financial risk
  • We can advise on ways to maximise income from the event
  • We can provide equipment (staging, lighting, PA etc.) at subsidised hire rates
  • We can print tickets, help with distribution of publicity, and promote your show through our website and/or mailings
  • If you want, we can sell your tickets online
  • Or, should you just need moral support or someone to bounce an idea off, we can be there for you!

You would be responsible for booking the venue, obtaining any necessary licences, engaging the performers, publicising the event, selling tickets (except those which you may ask Air to sell online) - and soaking up the applause from happy audiences!

Just think, this could be your venue...

To find out more, call us, or email info@airarts.org. We're keen to help, and to welcome you into our 'family' of local promoters.
